Fast-result headlines appeal when you are tired or sore. Here is why moxibustion still needs assessment, and why hotter or longer is not automatically better.
When you are exhausted or sore, a headline promising noticeable change in sixty seconds can be very tempting. Fast answers speak to the part of us that is stretched thin and short on time. Yet a catchy line cannot tell you how long a treatment should last for your body or what you might reasonably expect.
Stress narrows our attention towards anything that promises fast relief. Noticing that pull is useful in itself. It gives you a moment to slow down and ask what is really being offered, rather than reacting to the urgency of the message.

Before any moxibustion, Dr Christine Shen, Acupuncturist, will discuss what she is suggesting for you and how you will both decide whether to continue. The temperature, the area being warmed and how well you can feel heat in that spot all affect suitability. Even a short application needs proper assessment, and longer or hotter sessions are not automatically more helpful.
Agree on a simple way to tell Christine if the warmth becomes uncomfortable, and ask what aftercare to follow at home. Your skin condition, any areas of reduced sensation and sensitivity to smoke all belong in the conversation. Any instructions you receive are designed around your circumstances, so a friend's routine or an online clip cannot stand in for them.
Instead of chasing a dramatic one-minute result, you might find it more grounding to set a modest, personal goal and review it honestly. At the Lane Cove clinic, there is time to talk about how fatigue, tension and the pace of life fit together, and where moxibustion might or might not belong in that picture.
If tiredness or discomfort has been lingering, your GP is also an important person to see, so that anything needing medical investigation is not overlooked.
